Takara Holdings Inc. has been recognized for the first time as a Supplier Engagement Leader, the highest rating in the 2024 Supplier Engagement Rating conducted by CDP, an international non-profit organization focused on environmental disclosure.

CDP evaluates and promotes corporate and municipal efforts in climate change, water resources, and forest management based on requests from institutional investors and other stakeholders. The Supplier Engagement Rating assesses companies’ climate-related initiatives across their supply chains, based on responses in five key areas: “targets”, “supplier engagement”, “Scope 3 emissions”, “risk management processes”, and “governance and business strategy”.

To achieve our vision of “Smiles in Life,” we continue to tackle the challenges of filling people, lives, and lifestyles around the world with smiles. In 2020, the Group published the Takara Group Sustainability Policy, identifying ten key material issues including “Safety and Reliability.” In the following year, it formulated the Takara Group Sustainability Vision, which includes specific medium- to long-term goals based on the policy, and has been actively working toward achieving these goals.

Regarding CO₂ emissions reduction, the Group has set a target for FY2030 to reduce emissions by 46% at production sites of Takara Shuzo and Takara Shuzo International Group (compared to FY2018), and to reduce CO₂ emissions intensity (emissions per unit of sales) by 50% for the Takara Bio Group (compared to FY2018). By FY2050, the Group aims to achieve net-zero CO₂ emissions across all operations.
